Normally those are hand wash only as changes in temperature (high heat of a dishwasher) can result in expansion or contraction of the stainless steel & potential breaks in the seams. if seams become compromised water can enter between the walls of the mug. My understanding is the same can happen if you put the tumbler/mug in the fridge.
