Product Description ORANGE GUARD 103 INC 32OZ Home Pest Control, 32 Fl Oz (Pack of 1), Clear From the Manufacturer Orange Guard, Inc. was formed by Carmel Valley resident and inventor, Tor McPartland, who was looking for an alternative to conventional insecticides. The inspiration for Orange Guard came from McPartland's desire to find an alternative to these insecticides which have the potential of long-term health and environmental dangers. In 1984, McPartland read an article in Science News, where someone had taken citrus hand cleaner and poured it down a fire ant hill. Every ant was killed. "If you ever look at oranges, you'll notice that the peels are never bitten into by anything," says McPartland. "Orange peel is a natural repellent." Starting in 1985, McPartland spent the next 14 years in research and development efforts, including extensive testing and certification for safety and effectiveness. In May 1998, McPartland introduced his first product to consumers. That product was Orange Guard, a water based indoor/outdoor insecticide that may be used around food, humans and pets. Made from d-Limonene (orange peel extract) and inert ingredients, Orange Guard is EPA-registered and now available to consumers. Works naturally on ants, fire ants, roaches, fleas, silverfish, aphids, spider mites, leaf hoppers, scale insects, and other insect pests.

Review: Best and safest non toxic bug killer/repellent. - Absolutely fantastic product. I was struggling with stinkbugs popping up in the attic I live in. I live with 4 cats, so finding something that is an effective deterrent/bug killer and non-toxic to them was a headache. This gives me the best of both worlds, and the citrus smell is just heavenly. I haven't seen a single stink bug since Ive been using this regularly. It might seem like a lot, price-wise, for just one spray bottle. But it's super concentrated and worth it. I wish I knew about this sooner! Would have saved me so much trouble and headache!

I wasn’t necessarily in the market for a big spray, but after asking what he did for a living, I later went online and read more about the product. Though I’ve since purchased it online, I initially bought OG at a local hardware store after discovering I had a small stream of ants underneath my kitchen sink. USAGE: Normally, rather than attempting to kill ants by smothering my house with product, I prefer vacuuming up all visible ants and using a spray to create a sort of seal or deterrent near and around key entrance points. That way I’m neither breathing in or smelling copious amounts of chemicals. With Orange Guard, I don’t have to be nearly as scrutinizing over how much product I’m spraying as it’s both entirely natural and non-toxic. I still use the vacuum method to limit how much spray I’m using, but only bc it’s still got a pretty pungent smell. SMELL: The first thing you’ll notice with OG is in fact the smell... it’s a VERY concentrated citrus smell. Though it doesn’t smell “bad” (in fact I kind of like the way it smells), even the best smells can be overwhelming in large doses (think of that guy at the club who felt he needed 10 sprays of Drakkar Noir... nauseating!). Plus, it’s is rather acidic and such a concentrated amount can find its way to the back of your throat or deep within your nostrils, so no need to overdo it! Perhaps the worst invention was when popular brands of the poisonous alternative started adding scents to their products — I can’t think of a more dangerous and disregarding practice than attempting to mask something harmful with something pleasant, effectively causing people to spray and breathe high amounts of poison bc it no longer smelled of poison. EFFECTIVENESS: If we’re being entirely honest, OG is not as effective as it’s chemical-based alternatives. Like nearly all nature-based products — from cleaning supplies to detergents to medicine— custom-designed chemicals are hard to compete against. I’ve found the chemical-based products work FASTER, LONGER, and are ultimately more EFFECTIVE at both killing and deterring. HOWEVER... Orange Guard is still a highly effective product and while not necessarily the most capable, it absolutely gets the job down. But when you take into consideration the fact you’re not filling your home, and ultimately your LUNGS and the lungs of your loved ones, with harmful, probably cancer-causing toxins, it’s a no-brainer. I’d gladly take a product that’s roughly 85% as capable but 100% safer and healthier. Because ultimately all we’re really talking about are ants. And while admittedly annoying, I’m not ready to believe they’re so annoying as to justify willingly bringing poison into your home, your floors, your cabinets, and your bodies!

**Q: Does it kill spiders and silver fish?**
A: Spiders, no, silver fish, unlikely. I used this on Noseeums, and it does not kill them, nor any other bug; but it is a reasonable repellent. The reason is that most insects don't like citrus on their bodies, nor smelling it, which is why citronella is used. Now, this product was effective as a repellent, but only for say 5-10 minutes, then the Noseeums come back. And, it never kills anything, ever. So instead of spending more money on this product, I keep buying Orange (essential) Oil, mix it with water, and that's just as effective as this product, 100% natural, nontoxic, and pleasant, and it repels them well, but again, only for 5-10 minutes. Very good for clearing a cloud of them out of your way as you walk through an infested area.

**Q: Will it stain or damage beige wall-to-wall carpeting or oriental rugs?**
A: No, it will not.  I have beige carpet and I spray it everywhere and it did not stain the carpet.  I really makes them smell good.

**Q: How well does Orange Guard kill / repell Fleas??  Any idea how well Orange Guard works on Fleas compared to CedarCide...?**
A: I’ve used Orange Guard on fleas recently. It kills them on contact and keeps on working for a very long time. If they are inside, spray all of your baseboards.  It does not kill flea eggs or larvae. If you are persistent with repeated treatments, you will eradicate the fleas, but you might try diatomaceous earth for quicker results.

Absolutely fantastic product. I was struggling with stinkbugs popping up in the attic I live in. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very useful but not always long term effectiveness

Smells lemony and not chemical-ish at all. It works very well to kill and stop ants immediately but only lasts for a few days to a week. I will say this summer was extremely bad with the ants so maybe it isn’t as fair to this product in terms of the few days to a week. I do like its ability to work right away so I have bought multiple and will keep buying.
