After some research online and watching some videos on Youtube I found out that this lights needed some ballast in order for them to work, went back to desertcart and found some that were exactly for this lights. Once the ballast were in it was easy plug and play and there's no way you can get it wrong. Turned lights on and by what a difference in comparison to the yellow stock lights, these were way brighter and give it a nice look to it as well. Driving at night makes a big difference and I have better and further viability. I'm so happy with them that I'm now searching to get some for my girlfriends Toyota Solara. Remember these are great lights but you'll need to order ballast for them to work. Bulb was a perfect fit for my 09 Prius. I had some skepticism about buying because the cost was $115 less per bulb than a replacement bulb from Napa/Etc (which is the amount I had to pay to replace the other bulb a couple months ago when it went out while away from home). However, since it was a small $ risk, I decided to give these a try. The seller offers a decent warranty period for the cost, and seemed to back it up in the reviews I researched. So I ordered a set of two, to have a backup in case one goes out while away from home again. The first time I turned headlights on with the new bulb installed, it came on and flickered strobe light style, and then lit steady and strong. This also happened the second time - and the third - for just a few seconds when headlights were first turned on. After those 3 instances - there has been no repeat of that behavior. They have been working fine. The brightness is equal to the NAPA replacement bulb that is in the other side. The color is a just a slight bit more blue than the Napa bulb, but hardly noticeable. Bulb has only been in car for 3 days, so I have no opinion on its longevity yet. Cost is awesome. Fit is perfect. If it hadn't flickered those first 3 times and made me question my purchase decision, I would have rated 5 stars. At the moment, I'll go 4 stars - at least preliminarily. ***UPDATE 5/22/2017 - this bulb has now been in regular service in the car for 2 months, with daily operation. There have been no instances of flickering or blinking since those first 3 times following the installation.
