I only cooked half a package and I used a microwave hack to cook it, so keep that in mind. That being said, the taste was very good. It tasted like chicken and mashed potatoes. The vegetables were slightly crunchy in a good way. The texture of the mashed potatoes was acceptable. Especially since I did not use the prescribed cooking method of boiling it in water. I mixed one half of the package with three cups of water in a pampered chef microwave pot, stirred well, and put it in the microwave for 2 minutes on high, stirred and cooked for another 30 seconds. Seconds. I left it. Sit for 15 minutes in the pampered chef pot. The whole experience was good and satisfying. I'm going to try their leftovers reheated and see how that goes lol I will definitely purchase some of the other products and try them as well. If you are truly in any kind of a survival situation for 10 days on this diet where you are active, you will likely lose 5 to 10 lbs or more. If you really need this food, the bags won't be open long enough to worry about the food spoiling... you will eat it too quickly. At $15 per day. That seems excessive for the food alone, so what you are paying for is the storage packaging. Honestly, if you were trapped by an emergency and had only this to rely on, better plan for no more than a week absent significant discipline on your part. **Q: what is the total calories of the kit** A: Could not say for sure. It has a variety of packets, different meals have different calorie count. As i have used some of mine..... I could not say how many of each packet comes in the order. I would just like to point out that there are people...such as myself....that are medically unable to eat meat. It's not a lifestyle choice. In a survival situation, I would not be able to eat the meat of any animal due to a very serious medical condition.
