Before *by T***S on March 4, 2015* These mid-calf socks are a marvel. I must wear a cam boot because I broke my ankle, three times. I wore it for months before finding these wonderful socks. Before, after an entire day wearing the boot, my foot and sock were soaked with perspiration. After putting on these Hanz socks my feet come out of the boot dry. The socks are rugged, comfortable and the wicking action makes having to wear the Cam Walker Boot tolerable. In fact I am actually comfortable wearing them. It is winter right now and this is the second winter in the "boot". Last year my toes froze, this year they are nice and warm. If you are going to be out in the weather during winter, these socks will not disappoint. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Keeps feet warm and relatively dry *by A***S on April 30, 2013* I purchased these to use for whitewater canoeing and kayaking in the early spring when the water is still near freezing. Overall they work fairly well. I can step in shallow water with these and they keep my feet from getting saturated. They also keep my feet warm, which is very important. I can't speak to how 100% waterproof they are. After wearing them my feet are always a bit 'moist' but they're certainly not soaked, so it could very well be sweat that is affecting the inside. It's always warm on the inside though, and in the end that's what matters most.If you get water over the top of the stock (say you step in too deep) these act as a bucket. Your feet will be sitting in a pool of water until you take these off and dump them out. On the upside, though, that water will warm up eventually.The biggest downside to these socks is that they take forever to dry. Literally days of hanging up. If you plan on using them often, buy multiple pairs and rotate them.Overall I recommend these for cold-weather kayaking. You might also consider them for hiking but the seams look like they would be a little uncomfortable over hours of walking, so I'm not 100% sure on that. They could certainly act as a water-barrier if warn over a more comfortable sock though. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A runner's perspective *by S***S on June 15, 2014* I got these socks so I could maintain my running schedule all year in all conditions. Here are my observations:1. They are waterproof. No outside moisture gets to my feet.2. They are waterproof. All my sweat stays inside the sock, so my feet are still effectively soaked.3. They are waterproof, not weatherproof. They do not offer any significant insulation against cold.All in all, they are exactly as advertised and are not excessively bulky. As a runner (or someone who is going to perspire profusely) these socks will not prevent your feet from being wet, because your sweat will not be wicked away. I wore my regular running sock under these, but they were completely drenched after a long (2hr+) run. Because they are not insulated, my sweat-soaked feet became completely numb running through the snow. In cold, "dry" snow, wool socks are still preferable. In wet, slushy snow, these socks are nice to have for short runs.
