Always a treat with Lego!
I grew up with the cheap $2 advent calendar version consisting of waxy chocolate under flimsy doors. I am so jealous of kids these days who have many more options opening to them - but the Lego Advent Calendar is especially a treat! First off, you avoid refined sugar. Happy about that. You have something you can collect each year! Happy about that. You have something you can tailor to a specific child...more or less. Happy about that! I bought two of these for my two daughters, ages 2 and 4. I know the box suggests a different age, but my girls love the friends line. It was packaged well, and a good deal. I am excited for December to begin to start opening it day by day. We have been doing this for about 5 years and it is always a treat for the kids and adults!

Will Use Each Year
Legos legos legos! They have because my daughter’s favorite thing and it is all she asks for these days. She will spend hours putting them all together and then playing with them. They are all really high quality and it always amazes me the little things that go into the kits. Like hangers for clothing and swivel seats. I was never a big lego kid in the 70’s, but I’m glad that she loves them. Another bonus is how interchangeable they are. She loves Chewbacca and only wanted a Chewie lego set because otherwise they are for boys. I found a little Chewie set at our Lego Store and he is the perfect size to fit with all the of Friends sets. It cracks me up to see him with all of the pop stars. They are worth the money and will last forever.

Fun for the season
This has all the advent charm an 8 year girl could want. It's been a HUGE hit this season. The only caveat is that there have been a couple days/doors/gifts that are not buildable sets (like a bag of hair accessories and a brush). I think the best thing about Legos is the creativity and imagination it inspires in kids. To take away the building/creating aspect is to demean the value of Legos somewhat. It also feels a little sexists to assume that a little girl wants a handful of hair accessories from her Lego kit and not actual Legos! BUT I don't regret my purchase and I hope they continue to improve so that next year's kit is even better!

Love it!
My 9 year old daughter loves this! She looks forward to opening a gift every day, and as a side benefit I hadn't thought of, I'm able to rush her in the morning so she can have time to play before school. The pieces are really cool. So far we've gotten two girls, skis, a bunny, a bunch of hair bows etc to put on the girls and lots of other things and we are only half way through. Keep in mind the items it builds are very small. They are regular size legos but smaller pieces. The box has a play mat with scene attached to the box which is perfect for setting up and playing with everything. We leave the box set up at one side of our dining table. If the kids aren't playing with it I am!

1 door was a duplicate
My 5-year-old daughter really enjoyed this Lego advent calendar. She was eager to open each little door leading up to Christmas and was able to independently build the structures by looking at the images inside the doors. There are no guides or instructions for these creations, but they are very simple with fewer than 20 pieces each. Ours did have a quality control issue in which door #22 contained the same baggie as door #16, despite showing different illustrations. I have contact Lego as their customer service is generally very good about handling these types of issues. We will be getting next year's Friend's Advent Calendar for sure!

My 5 year old nephew loved this, and looked forward to setting it up every morning. He's a meticulous child, and his mom (a teacher) said it's a great gift. Impressive detail and lots of pieces. That being said, I gave one to my 5 year old niece, and she made a complete chaotic mess, including tearing the box open -- the box is actually part of the set-up, so be careful. if you have a little engineer, definitely go for it. If your child is a little tornado, not the right gift.

Love lego advent calendars but...
I hate to give lego advent calendars anything but 5 stars because we really love them. However, when you have one kid opening the friends calendar and one opening the star wars one they just don't compare. One gets a table and the other gets another awesome character. This year our friends set did have two in the wrong doors too. I will always buy them because my kids look forward to them so much. I just wish they could have more options for girls. Crossing my fingers for a princess lego advent calendar!

Awesome advent calendar, way better than chocolate!
OH MY AMAZING! My daughter LOVES this, every day she cannot wait for more. On the otherhand, these are the first small legos for my four year old. She puts these in her pockets and takes them everywhere. Far better than candy as they have provided a full day of enjoyment every time and will continue to provide enjoyment for months.Well done Lego! I just wish there was more variety and less stereotyping toward genders, albeit it is reasonable enough given it is a Friends set.And while justifying getting this for the kid, you may as well get yourself a calendar too:

Great. These are a Christmas tradition around our house
Great. These are a Christmas tradition around our house. Just wish there was less teeny, tiny minuscule little lego bits. yes it adds up to the count on the box-- but the pieces are essentially useless. Otherwise- my daughter was very happy

Great for LEGO Friends fans of any age!
The shipping was crazy fast! The LEGO advent calendars are our favorite, they're made great and the kids love them you can tell a lot of time and attention has gone into designing and creating them. The Friends collection is great for girls!

worth it!
Quality is excellent, amazing alternative to a sweets filled calendar. My daughter loves the suprise and wants to open first thing in the morning so it's nice to not be giving her chocolate! It's also a Lot less boring than your average flat, low quality chocolate calendar
