Tennis balls are fine, but the bounce just isn't enough. These things hit a bump and just the right angle and they go flying in the opposite direction and keep him running all day. Sure, he breaks them after a week or two of play, but I would gladly keep buying them to ensure he keeps running. The bounce is amazing, the durability isn't the best for my purposes, but they aren't intended for dogs either so I really can't complain.
