But she also bought it for what it would do. Every day, I use a knife (small serrated steak knife) to slice and core either an apple or pear to eat with my lunch. And every day, my wife cringes watching me do it, just knowing that eventually I'll cut off one (or more) of my fingers. When a friend (who watched me core an apple one day) told her about getting an apple slicer, she jumped on it. She chose the Dynamic Chef Apple Slicer based on the many positive Amazon reviews. She said it arrived on time and in perfect condition. When I opened the "gift" I was underwhelmed, to be perfectly honest. I laughed to humor her but, being set in my ways, didn't really see any need for it. I saw no reason to change the way I was doing things. After a few days of continually being asked "When are you going to try that apple slicer?," I decided to placate her and give it a try. I haven't used a knife since. It works great! It falls into the category of one of those specialty tools in your toolbox that you just can't live without to do a specific job. I initially had my doubts that it would cleanly remove the core but it always has. I do make sure to start it slowly when I have an apple or pear that is lopsided and doesn't sit flat, but so far, no problems with that either. I did try to use it with an apple that was just a little too big and it got jammed, but that was my fault and I should have known better. I believe they make a bigger slicer for larger apples. It is definitely worth the money. We got an e-mail after our purchase to make sure we were satisfied. It cleans up well by hand (at least my wife tells me it does). This product covers all the bases. Now I own two. This Dynamic Chef Apple Slicer and another brand. I bought them a day apart. I bought this one first but the other impressed me because it is dishwasher safe (this one isn't that I can tell) and the other one was made with an anti-rust metal and went on sale cheaper than this one.In my short time of having this device,I find myself hand washing them as basically a rinse is really all that is needed for the most part. This Dynamic Apple Slicer stands out for it being easier to slice through an apple. I am guessing the cutting blades are maybe a bit thinner to allow this and not really being sharper as I would like to say. The slicer seems to be well made am very happy with my purchase.If you have never used an apple slicer/corer, it is awesome to have. No apple juice running down my chin, my beard or sticky fingers due to biting into a whole apple. You get eight slices and the core which you do have to push through the device at the end (after you use the device to slice though the apple - LOL). This is the area where if this were sharper, you'd probably lose a finger or two. I just turn the slicer over and gently push the core and slices the rest f the way through. I also use more of an apple with this slicer as the core that i toss is a lot smaller than I would normally toss away when i eat a whole apple without slicing it.I am very happy with this purchase and love this slicer/corer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Much Faster Way Than By Hand *by N***E on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on October 10, 2015* In looking for healthy snacks, I decided an apple accompanied by small slices of Monterey Jack cheese would fit the bill. While I could cut the apple in half, then each half in half in order to remove the core from each quarter with my paring knife, then cut the quarters in half again to remove the rest, then cut each slice into pieces, it just took a long time. I decided an apple corer and slicer would be lots quicker. When mine arrived, I did find it a big large for my little Gala apples, and the corer did not go all the way to the bottom of the apple, which made it a bit difficult to remove the eight slices easily. Other than that, I did end up with the whole core removed and eight slices of apple to enjoy. I did nibble the layer of apple from the core first, then put the slices into a bowl with the cheese and had my sack in less time and fuss than before. a nice product, but I wish they had a smaller one for smaller apples. I am only 4'9" with a small adult mouth, so bigger apples are too big, but I imagine this corer-slicer would be the idea size for them.
