Kind of reminds me of the pop socket device on the back of phone cases. The smooth, silky porcelain is a breeze to clean. The quality of the porcelain is good - not too thick or too thin. It's attractive on the counter. The styling is transitional, complementing any decor. Purchased this for my husband who loves butter. Sure wish we had hunted for a dish like this many years ago. Review: Beautifully simple and functional - Excellent quality! I really like having it on the counter in the kitchen for food prep. It's heavy and solid, so I can easily load some butter onto a knife one-handed, without the dish moving around or me accidentally pushing the stick of butter off the plate or otherwise making a mess. The lid fits perfectly and its large handle gives me confidence. It holds a LOT of butter...maybe too much actually...but despite its large capacity its footprint isn't any larger than my old standard butter dish, and it's much easier to deal with. In short, it's close enough to perfection for me to call it perfect.

This dish is designed to fit larger blocks of butter with plenty of room. What sold me is that the top never touches the butter unlike butter dishes with dome style tops. Excellent quality! I really like having it on the counter in the kitchen for food prep. It's heavy and solid, so I can easily load some butter onto a knife one-handed, without the dish moving around or me accidentally pushing the stick of butter off the plate or otherwise making a mess. The lid fits perfectly and its large handle gives me confidence. It holds a LOT of butter...maybe too much actually...but despite its large capacity its footprint isn't any larger than my old standard butter dish, and it's much easier to deal with. In short, it's close enough to perfection for me to call it perfect.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful, but not for what I wanted

I bought this to hold one of those Amish butter logs. I had never bought an Amish butter log, just read how awesome they are. I looked at reviews of this & it looked like this was the product to buy. Oh no it is not. There is no way that this can hold a 2 lb Minerva Amish butter log. Minerva might make smaller logs, but that is all I can find in this town. BTW, a 2 lb butter log is enormous. Still I persisted. This is beautiful and well made, and will accommodate something else. Just don’t buy this for a 2 lb Minerva Amish butter log. I am giving it 5 stars because it is actually wonderful, I just misunderstood what I needed. It would be absolutely great for some other butter, like those butter blocks (West coast?) or a 1 lb Amish log (if they exist, I don’t know).
