I was surprised by the small size and lightweight of the item when I received it. The UTK small heating pad that I use for my back is heavy because of the jade and tourmaline stones. The neck heating pad has eight stones that are the same size as the other UTK heating pad. It is not heavy at all, which I was concerned about because having weight on my neck or head makes my condition worse. It comes with a small storage pouch, which is perfect because I travel sometimes for surgeries and having a convenient small item like this is perfect! The UTK neckband heating pad can be used on more body parts than just the neck: my husband had elbow surgery and it wraps perfectly around his elbow. I also have chronic hip pain and it is nice to wrap around my upper thigh to warm that area. I have Achilles tendinitis and item wraps and see around the back of my ankle securely and comfortably. This item could be improved significantly by offering a portable rechargeable battery pack to power it. Being plugged in is not ideal because I would like to be able to use this on my neck or other body parts on the go. Please be careful to keep fabric of some sort between your skin and the stones it does get quite hot. I usually set the heat to high while warming up, then lower it to medium for long-term use. It takes some time to warm up but boy, when it gets there it is such amazing, deep, heat and warmth and so relaxing. Another significant improvement would be a removable, washable cover. I have a thin neck and I do not care for the edges on the wraparound straps – they are uncomfortable and cut into my skin. I would like to see a different material used. Actually, the fleece material of the storage pouch would make an excellent cover, and I would love to see this item with a separate removable cover made from that material, that would cover the heated area and the straps as well. It isn’t always convenient for me to pull up my hood or grab a scarf. This is a wonderful item I believe it is worth the list price, however again I did have initial concerns that the timer function was unreliable, but it seems to have been user error. While they are somewhat flexible they aren't super flexible because of the nature of the product and the stones. I wish there was one designed to cover the neck, shoulder and entire upper and mid back and chest! The heat from this is DEEP and soothing. I use it while sitting and also lay with it under my neck while laying on my amethyst infrared pad. It's heavenly. The only reason I gave it a 4 rather than the 5 is I would enjoy it more with more weight. I use a weighted rice cushion on top of this while using it on my neck when sitting up so it actually hugs my neck. Using the velcro closing makes me feel like I'm being choked so I sent use it that way.
