Zipper is sturdy and cuffs are snug to keep out the wind. Calling it heavyweight is fine -- but it's not as bulky and heavy as my 23-year old parka (which is still in decent shape), for example. So, I'd say it provides a lot of warmth for its weight. The handwarmer pockets are big enough for a heavy glove, and the interior pocket has a velcro closure to secure your phone or wallet. The hood is well shaped: it lays down nicely when not in use, and you can mold around your head -- I don't miss having a draw-cord. It seems pretty secure in the wind as long as you angle it properly. The fleece lining keeps my head warm when I'm not wearing a knit cap. Fit: I'm 42 chest, and I bought a medium. I still have room to wear a heavy sweatshirt or sweater under this coat. I have to say that in temperatures from the mid-20s to high 30s, I don't really need a heavy layer underneath. Wind resistance is very good. Just started trying Amazon Essentials clothing in the last 8 months, and have been quite satisfied, so far.
