Review: Sweet story, even if you know nothing about horses - I read before giving to the horse loving 8 year old and it was really a nice read! There are some awful books out there in this 'horse girl's genre but this one seems to have an actual writer behind it, not a collection of cliches and tired tropes tied together with predictive text. No catty rich girls, no frenemies, it's a girl who loves her dad and her brother and her horse, and ends up exceeding everyone s expectations for what she could do. It was a bit advanced for said 8 year old, so we ended up reading aloud together to get through it more quickly (she was anxious to know what happened). Honestly the horse details went over my head but you don't need to understand them to enjoy it .

I read before giving to the horse loving 8 year old and it was really a nice read! There are some awful books out there in this 'horse girl's genre but this one seems to have an actual writer behind it, not a collection of cliches and tired tropes tied together with predictive text. No catty rich girls, no frenemies, it's a girl who loves her dad and her brother and her horse, and ends up exceeding everyone s expectations for what she could do. It was a bit advanced for said 8 year old, so we ended up reading aloud together to get through it more quickly (she was anxious to know what happened). Honestly the horse details went over my head but you don't need to understand them to enjoy it .
