Tip tinner is a total game changer when it comes to soldering. I was struggling figuring out how to re-solder some mouse switches onto a PCB and kept having issues getting the solder to transfer to the pad properly. It also took a century to heat up the pad. I watched a few videos on soldering and this was suggested in one of the videos. I thought hey it's cheap why not give it a try and MAN DOES THIS STUFF WORK! It almost instantly helped the pad take heat from the iron and gave me a perfect solder with flux on the first try, and I am not even good at soldering. It was so much easier to use than trying to finagle the solder wire onto the tip and having it drip or splash everywhere. I originally thought I fried a PCB trying to transfer heat for too long onto the pad and this makes it a 1 second operation. Here is some tl;dr- Pros: - Easy to use - Can tin your tip with one hand while holding something - Works like a charm and shines the soldering tip perfectly - More than enough product for projects. When you put the hot iron tip into it, it melts around the tip like solder and gets shiny like solder. **Q: I bought this and the "hakko 599b-02 solder tip clean" to clean my pyrography tips. however, neither item came with instructions. can anyone help?** A: Does a pyrographer need to clean their tips? Don't you just burnish your wood? This stuff, just like the Hakko product, both cleans the tip of a soldering iron and tins it very thinly. This helps greatly in heat transfer and helps to transfer solder when soldering. You, on the other hand, probably don't care for the tin.
