You have to look at the fine type printed on each item you bring: from cell phones to curling irons to see what voltage they can handle (all of mine handled varying voltage (100-210), so no converter needed). iPhones, iPads, etc. vary their voltage too, so no converter needed.I purchased two of these and they worked perfectly. We traveled to French Polynesia (Tahiti) 110 voltage with the two or three cylinder type prong plugs. They work in France & many other European countries as well.I was also concerned that we would need a grounded adapter, not because of our items, but because I read that these small adapters can fall out easily. So I purchased one grounded (3 prong) one just in case - this was never needed. The two prong adapters fit snugly: easy to insert, keep in, hold iPhone converters and remove for all three different hotels we stayed in. ### ⭐ Not like the picture! *by D***D on June 7, 2012* I ordered this adapter because it looked a little better made than some of the others, and reviews of some other design adapters complained of loose fit and plugs falling out (reviews of this adapter were more positive). When the part arrived, it was white, not black, and it was a completely different adapter design than shown in the picture. I received a part that looked just like a Power Bright GS9 that currently sells for $2.13 each. I called Amazon, and they were nice enough to accept a return and offer free shipping on the replacement. I assumed that perhaps someone's honest mistake led to my having received the wrong part. But, when I ordered this part a second time, I again received the wrong part. If you want an adapter that looks like the picture, you won't get one. If fact, you get a cheaper design that looks weak and is a loose fit to most plugs due to the large openings in the back. If you want an adapter like the Power Bright GS9, order that one and save a couple bucks. Skip this one since it apparently doesn't exist anymore (as of June, 2012). ### ⭐ What is shown is not what shipped *by J***Y on April 22, 2014* Just wanted to point out that what I received was not what was shown in the image. I have the exact part shown in the image and it works great for trips to European countries like Germany and Italy. I ordered two of these and what i received was different than shown. I bought these right before my last trip. I was concerned with the fact that they where different than what I already had, but before I returned them I decided to take one with me to try it out. My original one fit the plug on the end of the cord very well and was tight enough to maintain the connection. The new one that I received was not able to keep the plug connected in the European outlet.
