There is absolutely no need to spend an exorbitant amount of money on HDMI cables. HDMI is a digital cable, transmitting 1’s and 0’s, and they either make it from the source device or they do not. Expensive cables can be more rugged and durable with thicker casings, more robust connectors, thicker internal wires, less EM interference, but you must decide for yourself if the difference justifies the expense. It would be hard for me to justify paying over $25, much less hundreds.Speed (Gbps) is the most important consideration when choosing an HDMI cable under 25’ length and must be fast enough for your specific AV equipment, HDMI version, and media sources. At lengths over 25 feet, HDMI cable build and material quality become much more important. For long distances, active HDMI cables, optical HDMI cables, and wireless are options.
