Review: Easy to use and to clean - Although we have a tassimo coffee machine, I wanted something simple and straightforward for an ordinary mug of coffee, so I spotted this on desertcart. Salter products are always very cheaply priced compared to most other brands, but having bought Salter Products before, and all of them doing what they are supposed to, I bought this. Only tried it tonight, having bought a packet of filter coffee in Sainsbury's. Machine comes with a travel mug, but instead I used a tall ceramic coffee mug. On first attempt, and in about 2 mins, a very warm mug of coffee was ready. The strength of coffee will depend on how much coffee you put into filter basket of machine. Not liking strong coffee, I used about 1 very heaped teaspoon of filter coffee for 1 mug full. It was perfect. Different strength and different flavours will all depend on which coffee, its strength and how much you use. There is a preset option on machine that can be used to prepare a coffee for a time in day of your choosing. Will probably never use this option as machine makes a perfect mug of coffee within minutes from pushing on/off button. Again, a great Salter product. Simple to use, works as it should, what more do you need for a basic mug of filter coffee. 10/10

The reservoir is a bit tricky as the back fill near the lid hinge is best overcome by using a small jug but as I'm arthritic it may be a subjective thing. The travel mug keeps the drink at perfect temperature and a broad band prevents burning your fingers. Excellent results and all round winner.

**Q: Photo shows foam in the cup, but I just wanted to check does it really makes coffee with foam? Thanks!**
A: No, it won't. It'll be a standard black filter coffee. Crema doesn't really get formed this way, and if it does, it is usually stuck on the coffee grounds before being filtered. After filtration, it is a simple black coffee.

**Q: Can you put water in the night before or just when ready to use it.**
A: Yes, you can put water in it the night before. Also, if you put some ground coffee in the little basket that will save those valuable moments in the morning too.

**Q: Is there an alarm once the coffee is ready?**
A: No. and there is no heating plate to keep the coffee warm

**Q: Has anyone put hot chocolate in it?**
A: Yes I have but for one person two heaping table spoons I have also put the milk in as if it were water.
Make sure that you rinse it out immediately after hot chocolate made and do a water run as if making coffee to wash the system out, you may have to do this twice till you get cleared water ( You have to do this immediately important)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great value for money

I have been using the Salter EK2732 Filter Coffee Maker for the past eight months and have been delighted with it. I only have one coffee a day and prefer fresh ground coffee over instant. I was finding that I was throwing away several cups by brewing in my French press so this machine seemed like a great solution as it only brews a single-serve cup. Pros: In terms of design, this fits in well with my kitchen. It's not bad looking for a coffee machine and its slim design means I can slot it to the back of the worktop without it taking over too much space. The 24-hour programmable timer works well. You just set it to the time you want to brew and leave it to do its magic. I use the timer function twice a week, but the rest of the time I just use the manual function to brew in the moment. It takes about 3-4 minutes to brew a mug's worth of coffee and it's relatively hot. Cons: The quality of the thermos mug provided with the machine isn’t the best but that’s the be expected for the price. It's also lacking a drip tray or anti-drip mechanism. To prevent it from dripping all over once the coffee has been brewed, I've had to put another cup underneath. My top tips: - Use the cup you intend to drink from as a measure for the amount of water, otherwise you'll end up adding too much, or too little water. - If you intend to use a 'real' mug and not the travel mug included, bear in mind that the height of the machine vs the mug may splash coffee onto your worktop service so put down a paper towel or mat to avoid a mess - Purchase some paper coffee filters instead of adding the coffee direct to the machine. It means you don't have to wash the filter every time, just rinse. I got biodegradable ones so it's super easy to lift down and recycle with my food waste.
