Review: Tingling, but hopeful...! - To prepare for my upcoming marathon races, I wanted to add Beta Alanine to improve my performance. Like Creatine, which is another performance supplement, Beta Alanine has to be taken for at least 4 weeks for you to start feeling the benefit. - It doesn't work right after the intake; rather, the effect of beta alanine gradually builds up in the body through bioaccumulation from a daily intake of about 5 g over the course of 4+ weeks. Since my races are in November (in 7 week) and in December (in 11 weeks) , I wanted to start taking it now. UNLIKE Creatine, you cannot accelerate bioaccumulation by the "initial loading" (increased dosage for the first week). Beta Alanine is VERY famous for its annoying side effect of TINGLING SENSATION. It's totally harmless and will go away in about an hour or less but is definitely uncomfortable. You will build up tolerance to the side effects eventually as you build up beta alanine level. But I wanted to avoid feeling burned up itchy all over my body. To keep the side effects as low as possible, dividing the daily 5 gram dosage into a few smaller-dosed servings is recommended for sensitive people. For that very reason, I wanted the PILLS OVER POWDER. Another famous supplement brand had Beta Alanine in both forms, but the pills were sold out. I came to desertcart, and found this product. This product provides a daily serving of 3.4 g of Beta Alanine in 4 tables. Each tablet has 0.85 g and 3/4 inch long (the tablets are not as huge as some other reviews noted). This was perfect for me. I weigh 113 lb, and general "recommended doses" are a little too much for me. Since I received the product at night, I decided to take only half the serving, 2 tables in 2 separate intakes 2-3 hours apart. Oh I'm glad I did. Within 20-25 minutes of taking the first tablet with a light supper, I started feeling hot, itchy, tingling sensations in my feet, thighs, arms, fingers, chest, torso, and face. God!!! Mind you, I took only 0.85 g instead of recommended 5 g!! I immediately understood what people were all talking about!! The tingling was quite uncomfortable, but I knew it was harmless and would pass, so I let it pass. It diminished in about 30-40 minutes and became almost unnoticeable in 60+ minutes. So I can go ahead and take the second pill (0.85 g) to complete the 1/2 daily dose for Day 1. I'm looking forward to seeing the benefits in 4 weeks during my marathon training, and will come back and update here.
