I found the solid tone to be easier to id the location of the wires/cables than the alert tone. I also discover that if my body is close to the transmitter, it’s actually setting off the probe. I moved the transmitter as far from my body as possible and it worked alot better. I used it in RCA cables and on a power plug. I purchased a car and the previous owner had wires all over. I spent three days trying to figure out where the wires went but when I purchased this cable tracer, I found where they went within a few minutes. I should have bought something like this along time ago. I got this one while it was on sale. The plastic seems cheap and I will probably break it if I do not put in a case. Other than that, it did what it was supposed to do. I took off one star because of the plastic and because i had to figure out that my body was setting it off. For the price, I would buy and if it breaks it will just get another one.
