Review: saving money, and doing more! - First a disclaimer: I don't have shares in SmallRig, nor am I getting kickbacks or anything personally for free from this company to make the comment below. I'm just a cameraman who has been in broadcast TV for over 28 years and used loads of gear in that time. Some of it worked, some of it didn't, some of it shouldn't but did. My comments below are just some personal observations which i'd like to share with others. Being a Cameraman in this day and age is not the easiest of jobs, especially with the diverse range of camera's in many form factors, coming onto the market. Kitting these camera's out on any given day can lead to many thousands of dollars in "add on's" just to make them usable. Gone are the days of shoulder mounted 2/3" EFP style camera's ready to go out of the box. Now-a-days it's bare bones camera brain with a multitude of additions needed just to make it go from tripod to hand held, to jib, to Gimbal, to drone. Not to mention if you're a freelancer like me who in any given month can use any and every form factored camera on the market, the need to adapt your add on's to each of these units can be not only a headache but stupidly expensive. Like everyone else I purchased cheese plates, rods, ball heads, etc. from all the usual market places. And cringing at the expense every time for what is some times just a hunk of aluminium [sorry aluminum for the 'mericans] with some threaded holes drilled into it. Until I discovered SmallRig. I've managed to collect a bunch of their various products now and can honestly say that here is a company who does it right. Their products are incredibly well made, well designed with the operator in mind, and the you can use them anywhere and on any camera [a particular frustration for me with some companies who only want you using their products]. Now I realise most of the their products were designed for the DSLR market in mind... I don't use DSLR's, I use Sony F5's, RED Epic's, Phantoms. And these pieces work just fine. I've been mixing and matching nato rails and clamps with those of other much more expensive manufacturers with no problem what so ever. No signs of stress, or wear at all. I mean seriously how much wear can there be on a cheese plate??? For some of the components time will tell if they're up to the task for heavy use, and gauging by their feel I think they will. note: [Started using my first SmallRig 15mm rod clamp in Jan of 2015... so far so good] Are they as well designed and manufactured as some of the other BIGGER name brands.. I don't know.... I'm not a metallurgist who can determine the components in the aluminium block. I'm a DP who shoots everything from wildlife and adventure to reality and high energy sports. I need to trust my gear will be up to the task and not leave me having to jury rig my components with bungy cords and generally make life not very pleasant. But time will tell. And be sure I'll keep you posted should something fail within reason. I'm also practical, I don't want to pay excessive amounts of my hard earned dollars on a piece of over engineered metal which may only come out once every three weeks, it's just not practical or sustainable in todays ever changing camera design market. And this is where the best part comes in to play. The price. SmallRig have priced their equipment realistically for todays market. I know it's a highly competitive market and whats involved in design, engineering and CNC machining to get this stuff out there.. And these guys bring it. They've even offered to make something specifically for me if I require it. Doubt those 'other' manufacturers would be so accommodating. Okay, enough blithering. I like their gear. I like how it's made, I like how it looks. I like how it's priced. I like how the company interacts with me as a customer. Time will tell if it's up to task on heavier work loads than the dslr world [which truthfully isn't different at all now-a-days] And truth be told even if a part did break, it's so competitively priced I could buy three of their items for one of their bigger US competitors and use it in three different configurations on three different camera's if need be...... you get my point. Not to mention they're always up to having a chat about any issues you may have. If your looking to kit out your rig and searching for well priced components to use, Give SmallRig a look over. Okay now you can all go back to shopping, I'm getting off my soap box.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it work with the 3234 Black Mamba Cage?**
A: Dear Friend,
Thanks for your inquiry.
Yes, they are conpatible.
Sincerely,
SmallRig Customer Service

**Q: Can i screw this rail on top of a c-100 handle with a 1/4 hole? i'm trying to find a better attachment system for my monitor w sr cage.**
A: Yes, but works better if you can use two 1/4” screws to prevent rotation. If your cage has attachment places (or can be added) a longer quick release rail could be used for more stability.

**Q: can i use this on tilta's bmpcc6k cage?**
A: Hi, could you please tell us where do you want to attach to the cage? If we know the exact scenes to be used, we can better answer your questions. Thank you : )

**Q: Two reviews below state this isn't the standard nato slide rail size. will my genuine red epic sliding handle work on this?**
A: Yes
