At 6.5 inches long and crafted in precise 1/35 scale, this plastic model kit delivers an authentic building experience favored by hobbyists and collectors alike. ## Description In 1938, the German Army decided to develop an armored personnel carrier on the basis of the 3-ton half track (HL-KL-9p). Hanomag Hannoversch Machinenbau (AG) in Hannover was ordered to develop the running gear and Bussing-NAG in Berlin was to develop the superstructure to be armored. Design work was hastened on the model of existing armored cars and a prototype was completed at the end of 1938. The Germans tested the prototype in the Kumahsdorf Proving Ground and accepted it for mass production. Thus was born the Armored Personnel Carrier Hanomag Sdkfz 251/1 which, we may safely say, was a synonym for the German mechanized corps that showed activity in all battlefields throughout the war. Review: Not perfect, but pretty good. - Excellent model kit overall. Lots of small parts with the soldiers. The Hanomag itself is an easy build except for the tracks. I had to reinforce the drive wheels from the inside and heat the track to stretch it slightly. My first attempt at installing the track pulled the drive wheels right out of the hull. The track MUST be boiled or heated gently with a heat gun and installed warm. Review: Fast shipping - Tamiya speaks for itself ## Features - Kit includes five figures - This kit is 6.5 Inch long - 1/35 Scale Armor ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B000WN8AHA | | Additional Features | tamiya, 1.35, wwii sdkfz. | | Age Range Description | Kid | | Brand | TAMIYA | | Brand Name | TAMIYA | | Color | Military Green, Grey | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 2,022 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 04950344995394 | | Included Components | Tamiya 35020 1/35 German Hanomag SDKFZ 251/1 Plastic Model Kit | | Item Type Name | MODEL KIT | | Item Weight | 299 g | | Manufacturer | Tamiya | | Manufacturer Part Number | TAM35020 | | Manufacturer Warranty Description | No warranty. | | Material | Plastic | | Material Type | Plastic | | Model Number | TAM35020 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Occasion | Collectible | | Package Quantity | 1 | | Style | Old school | | Theme | Military | | UPC | 885530350685 885245853532 793625039240 | | Unit Count | 1 count | | character | Cars | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Tamiya Models - **Age Range (Description):** Kid - **Color:** Military green, grey - **Theme:** Military - **Cartoon Character:** Cars ## Images ![35020 1/35 German Hanomag SDKFZ 251/1 Plastic Model Kit - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71zvTN1yiUL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: will the German 88mm flak gun attach to the back** A: The SdKfz 251 has a tow pintle that the towed 88 mm FLAK gun can attach to. The most common prime mover for a towed 88 was the SdKfz 7 half track. Larger, more power, and carried more troops and cargo than the SdKfz 251. Tamiya makes a very nice SdKfz 7 kit...... **Q: What version(Ausf.) does this represent?** A: The Tamiya kit is an Sd.Kfz. 251/1 - Schützenpanzerwagen. Standard personnel carrier. **Q: How many pieces in this kit, give/take the 5 figures?** A: This is a classic Tamiya kit from 1973 and includes about 80 pieces including the two vinyl tracks. The four pages of instructions are clearly illustrated and easy to follow. Assembly is easy, so take your time and enjoy the effort. **Q: Hi what is the length, width and height of the model?** A: The SdKfz 251 is about 7 inches long, 2 3/8 inches wide, and about 2 inches high to the top of the hull. The machine gun and shield add about another half inch to that. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not perfect, but pretty good. *by B***N on February 8, 2026* Excellent model kit overall.
