It will not scuff or tear with moderate to heavy usage. *Moderately waterproof: I would be comfortable taking this into a rainstorm, but pockets would experience dampness after a few hours (may effect items very sensitive to humidity). *Compatible with Molle system and has plenty of mesh for attaching to other packs in various configurations. My personal choice is a Condor II backpack with one of these holders on either side to dramatically increase storage potential. * Very spacious in the center pocket - enough for either (1) a rather large water bottle, (2) a PC laptop power supply (brick) and attachment cords, (3) some small cans of food (ex. tuna or chicken sized) or (4) similar sized items. *Inner lining of the largest pocket has a small amount of padding for protecting somewhat fragile items. *Outer pocket fits my wallet, cell phone, and a few small items very well but could hold more. *When attached properly with TacTies there seems to be no possibility of the mesh accidentally breaking or fraying through rugged use. This thing is built like a Sherman tank. The nylon is darn near indesctructible. It will be with me for years to come. The drainage grommet on the bottom is handy as is the surprisingly spacious front pocket. The insualtion isn't just overly superior, but it will keep a hot drink hot for a while or a cold drink cold. In perspective, we're talking about a bottle holder here, not a Stanley double-walled thermos. The ONLY reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the zipper. Maxpedition usually uses YKK zippers on their gear. Not sure why they didn't on this one. The zipper seems sound, but it's a bit more difficult to zip than other pieces of gear I've had. I can get it open or closed in no time, but that doesn't mean I'm not spoiled by the quality in their other products. Lastly, the D-rings for shoulder strap attachment are composite plastic. Durable, but plastic nevertheless. I have a Condor brand bottle holder that was half the price of this one and its D-rings are metal. Pony up for metal, Maxped!!!!
