I gave them a sudsy cleaning and wipe down before using. To use I wiped them inside and out with cooking spray on a paper towel, then a light spray while in the pan. The way the crumpets slipped right out when I pulled up the ring was better than I had hoped for, and I realized I probably didn't need as much spray. The trick for not having batter run under the edges was to make sure the edges were completely on the flat part of the pan and first heating up the rings in the pan before adding the batter so it cooks quickly at the outer bottom edges. The little handles are convenient to do a half rotation while cooking to evenly cook the bottoms. Cleanup was easy, with a rinse and wipe (given how smooth and seamless the rings are), but it's nice to know I could put them in the dishwasher too. These egg rings could end up being family heirlooms, passed down the generations.The unpleasant aspect that cost a star is the finish on the top and bottom of the rings. The production process for these egg rinds seems fairly obvious. A stainless steel cylinder is sawn into rings. After the ring is was cut, very little effort was made to remove the rough sawed edge. I cut myself while cleaning the rings before the first use.Don’t get me wrong, for the price, a good deal. I used a convex metal file to remove the burrs. A brief warning in the instructions would have warned users to inspect their product. Thus the star reduction. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ EGGCELLENT!!! First make sure your eggs are fresh to avoid the yolk and the white from too runny and leaking out of the ring. Next, make sure to butter or oil the ring all around. Next put a little oil in the pan, I used my cast iron pan. Set the stove to med. and place your egg ring while the pan is heating up. Both pan and the ring will start to heat up at the same time. Wait for 3 mins, then break the eggs inside the ring. You will hear a sizzle when you do this..,meaning the pan is hot. Sprinkle salt, and turn the heat to low. Wait until the egg sets to you desired doneness. I like mine slightly runny. Sprinkle pepper and serve.This ring is excellent! It is well made, thick and edges are not sharp. It has weight to it, which is good. Stainless steel is better than non stick I think if you use it properly because, if it is non stick, I worry that the coating might come off over time like some of my baking pans. Try this egg rings ang follow my tips. You will not be disappointed. If it stick a little, that means you did not oil or butter your ring properly. If it does stick a little, just use a thin knife and carefully go around the edges and you will have a perfectly beautiful cooked egg all the time. No more egg mcmuffin for me.
