You just remove the pin from the door hinge, place the door stop on top of the hinge. Re-insert the pin through the door stop on top and back into the hinge. It's been three months with many kids ages 5-13 slamming and throwing doors open. These installed super easy, pull pin out, pop these on, put pin back in. They were sturdy, not cheap and flimsy. I was super worried seeing some reviews that said they put holes in trim. I think that could happen if someone, like my 18 year old son, pushed the door open really hard. But, they are adjustable. I adjusted them all to open far enough yet still not bang into things so that shouldn't be a problem. The ONLY issue I've had is I've been repainting my trim from oak to white. The freshly painted white trim got a scuff mark from one of these. But, I should have waited a few more days for the paint to cure before installing. No marks or holes on any other trim. Love them so much I'm ordering more.
