Review: Great for thickening pie fillings! - I used tapioca flour for the first time following instructions in a pie book I had recently purchased. I used to add more flour or cornstarch, and it is not the same. The tapioca flour is a much better product and you cannot even taste it - it does not distract from the flavor of your filling. I made a bunch of berry pies this summer, and they were fantastic! The filling was not runny and held together when you slice the pie (after cooled sufficiently). I really recommend tapioca flour for a serious pie baker.

I have been using this product for many years and never had a problem with orders from amazon for bobs red mill products. I did not want to slap bobs red mill with a negative review, but I am unappy with amazon's return policy. one of the packages had a hole in it-may have been a factory defect and alot of the flour had leaked out of the package. because I could not be sure of any contamination in the flour, I threw one bag out. I am writing this review so people realize even though the package was defective and perhaps the product itself was contaminated IT IS NOT RETURNABLE. this flour is expensive and so I will be looking elsewhere to purchase my gluten free flours.
