They spend all of their budget on the big components and fail to adequately power it with a high quality power supply, thus possibly jeopardizing their entire build. I went with a generally trusted company, but bought a lower-line power supply that developed horrible coil whine after a week. It was RMA'ed and I didn't trust a replacement. I ended up researching other power supplies in the 750watt range that were sub-$130. This was one of the few that fit the budget and was a quality company. I could not be more pleased. It is whisper quiet and looks great. Let's do some quick pros/cons: Pros: - Ultra quiet, especially if you want to use the ECO function which cuts the fan from spinning. I have yet to find noticeable temperature increases that worry me. When the temperatures increase, the fan starts and all is well. Love this feature. - Aesthetically looks good. Has a very slight dimpling texture. - Adequate cables as provided (more on this below). Feel sturdy and well constructed. - Packaged very well, including cases for both extra cables as well as the PSU itself. - Fully modular and well-labelled - 10 year warranty (I doubt it will even be in use with me that long, but great insurance). - Did I mention it was whisper quiet? Cons: - The provided cables are all adequate to power even fairly intense builds. However, I was disappointed that none of the cables were 90 degree angles for the connectors. Pros- - It came with so many cables - Very nice quality cables. - Small (which is awesome for mid-towers) - It has a power switch. - Has Eco mode (if you are a gamer do not use this) Cons -Well it is not really a con, it comes with a bunch of VGA cables and oh man they are nice looking but, most GPU's on the market are using PCIe sockets. Which with this type of socket you need a PCIe express cable, which is an 8 pin and a 6+2 pin set up on the same cable. The VGA cables are 8 on one side and 6+2 on the other. So if you have a GPU that needs PCIe express cable you will have to go out and buy one. It was not a problem for me because I had one laying around. Also although the PCIe express cable normal is plugged into a PCIe slot on a PSU (which all the slots are lable VGA on this one) I have found that you can still just plug it into the VGA spot. It is working fine for my R9 280x, hopefully it keeps working fine. (I read somewhere that VGA and PCIe on the PSU are the same, not sure if that is true.) Over all this is a really great PSU, it powered up my new build and seems to be working fine. My last PSU was the 500watt bronze edition and it still works after 3 years of abuse. That's a steal. The power supply itself and all of the cables are built with high quality parts and you can DEFINITELY tell the difference when handling it compared to other budget power supplies. Not only that but the packaging and presentation are impeccable and it comes with all sorts of spare cables so you won't have to find yourself ordering more parts (power supplies should be easy right?). Oh and these things are VERY quiet too. I can barely hear the fan when I'm on my knees fiddling with cables and have my ear right next to it. Let's clarify a few things for those who are new to building PCs: The "GOLD" doesn't have anything to do with materials used in the power supply, but rather the efficiency rating of the power supply as a whole. GOLD means that the unit has 87% efficiency at a 100% load (it essentially converts 87% of your wall outlet power into power that can be used by your computer). The only higher designation is "PLATINUM") which has 89% efficiency at 100% load. Platinum units, however, are generally more expensive and from a price perspective, suffer from diminishing returns. This power supply is also "modular", which essentially means that cables can be swapped out so that only cables that you need to use are connected to the power supply. This saves a TON of space in your computer, and with newer towers becoming smaller and more stream-lined, you need all the space you can get. Having extra space also improves airflow and cooling in your tower, which is also something you can always have more of. Overall: HIGHLY recommend these power supplies.
