I purchased these after having an allergic reaction to some leather slippers and they work great. Although the other slippers I had were real leather they had some glue on the inside that caused me to have contact dermatitis and my feet got blistered and itchy. Apparently it is a somewhat common allergy to the glue but I haven't had any problems with these slippers at all! They are soft on the inside and very breathable-my feet don't get super sweaty inside. They also feel less stiff than the leather slippers and require less time to break them in. The small bow string tightens the slipper around the top of the foot and the elastic bands keep it from slipping around your foot. The heel is a little lower on the back than my leather slippers so it feels a little strange at first but when you are dancing you don't even notice it. There is slightly less resistance on the floor with the canvas and I would definitely recommend getting your true size in these-not 2 sizes down like most slippers. It does fit comfortably and is nice to dance in; unfortunately, it also gets dirty easily. Because it is a canvas dance shoe acts differently from the typical leather ballet shoes, so I would not recommend getting these for your recital.
