Review: Not alone, but with great assist - v-v-v-v-v-v 2020-10-23 v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v FInally had my bathroom sink start backing up. It wasnt a full clog, just if i ran the water longer than 5 seconds it started backing up into the sink. I used this stuff, and i could SMELL it working. Then after one night, the sink flowed 100% fine. I now use this stuff as maintenance on the kitchen sink and the guest bathroom sink. v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v Original Post v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v I have a 1960's home with a 1960's toilet that is very fickle. It used to clog easily, and I was getting to my wits end. Then I started using green gobbler, and the toilet started flowing well again. I was filled with hope. But after about 3-4 weeks, things started getting clogged easily again. The green gobbler alone wasnt enough. Now after a couple months of use, I know that without question, I need to do a combination of a green gobbler maintenance soak, and combine that with a good plunger strategy seems to be my best strategy. The green gobbler does a good job of loosening things up with the plunging as the final cleanse. Definitely well worth the buy for me, but ymmv. Update 2019/12/16 So I still find that I have to use this for our old toilet every 1-2 months. Without it, we get clogs more often. It takes a couple days for the effects to work well. **Q: I saw this on QVC and wanted to buy it, but thanks to Amazon reviews I see that most of the verified purchase reviews were unfavorable, while the reviews that did not have verified purchase were glowing. Is this a fair observation?**
A: Honest review here. i bought mine from home depot cuz if it doesn't work, you can return it. i  was skeptical after the gel drano and crystal heat didn't unclog our stubborn kitchen sink. we have problems with it every 6 months we need to get the plumber. anyhow, when all failed and right before i had to call a plumber again, i tried this. 1st pac cleared 60%, 2nd pac cleared 80% and the 3rd pac left overnight cleared it all. if i do it again, do it the overnight way.

**Q: What's the main ingredient?  I can't tell from the photos.**
A: I found a website that says the main ingredient is Sodium Bisulfate, Anhydrous Globular (NaH8O4) .  I was hoping for scum-eating bacteria. Anyway, all biodegradable. I'm a little skeptical about a reviewer's understanding when they parrotted the company line "Green Gobbler's active ingredient acts as an emulsifier to liquefy solids" which sounds like gobbledygook to me, the daughter of a chemist. Sodium Bisulfate is acidic, so that's why instructions are to keep it off metal surfaces and why it apparently also etches into porcelain products. I would wear rubber gloves when working with it.

**Q: product works but in my bathtub, thought I had rinse any splashes or residue away..came back later to find a dark brown stain. How to remove it?**
A: Sometimes this can happen. All you need to do is soak the area with hydrogen peroxide, let it sit, and then rinse with warm water and a sponge.

**Q: Can it be used in kitchen sinks with a disposal?**
A: We have used this in the bathroom sinks, the toilet which was pretty amazing, cleared the drain very quickly, actually removed the rust stain that had been on the commode for a very long time.  We did have an issue with the shower drain because we have a rain shower head, we did not get enough water into the drain which resulted in the entire house smelling like rotten eggs for many, many hours.  You need to have lots of water ready to go when you use this product.  It did, however, work!

I purchased the Green Gobbler Drain Clog Remover & Drain Cleaner Powder (5 Pacs & 5 Tools). All I can say is that this has saved my life several times when the bath drain was completely clogged with hair. It works within 30 minutes. I love the separate bags for one-time use - very convenient and powerful. However, the smell is also powerful and extremely awful - rotten eggs. The smell doesn't go away for a long time, even with an air purifier in the bathroom. But for me it's worth it because I live alone and it works every time and is so convenient and reasonably priced - much cheaper than a plumber!
