I have a 1 5/8" wide door** A: Funny you should ask. I am a Union Carpenter and never noticed that there are tabs that allow for it to be removed that will allow this device to go up to a 1 3/4 this should fit just right as there are only two types 1 3/8 and 1 3/4. I believe yours must be the one this is designed to fit right out of box. Are you sure its 1 5/8s? **Q: Is there any difference between this whitmore product and the honey can do over-the-door hanger holder?** A: Don't know that answer. **Q: does this fold flat so it can be used vertically when door is open against a wall?** A: It does fold down flat but it would be difficult to hang items on it when in that position. It is just not designed for that. Otherwise, i really live them. I have three. **Q: Is this made in China?** A: I believe it is made in China. I bought it last year and it does the job.
