I read online to use a slower 13T pinion with this motor on the hotshot because of overheating, but decided to try a faster pinion at 15T. Paired with a newer 1060 ESC with a capacitor built in, it runs flawlessly. Motor stays relatively cool, a bit warm, but not hot. Ran it for 30 minutes with a NIMH 5000mah battery and ran flawless. Not sure how hot it would be with LIPO batteries, but this combo works for me.
