Don't believe the others: these WILL NOT fit a dual slot standard such as Home Depot's ClosetMaid brand. And I know for certain, as I have both in hand after picking up the standards just now to work with these brackets on my doorstep tonight. Top of slot to top of slot in a ClosetMaid is 1.25", but these brackets are 1.0625 (1 and a sixteenth) from top to top, and for anything with measurement top to top of around 1.125 (1 and an eighth) will mean that only HALF of the top legs falls behind the standard in order to keep it from falling out, or only about 1/16" of an inch (do NOT try to weight such a shelf down)! YOU MUST USE THEIR REDUCED SLOT SPACING STANDARD WITH THESE, or find another supplier with standards of that dimension. Also, as others have indicated THESE ARE BEING FALSELY ADVERTISED AS 22". FROM THE SURFACE OF THE STANDARD OUT, THEY ARE 20" AS OTHERS HAVE STATED. Absolute overall length is 20 7/16". Because of all this, I will be returning these, save for 4 of them that I will dissasemble and remove the riveted support arm, and then drill and bolt these to a ClosetMaid 20" bracket after some MacGyver style making of an opening to let them slide in from the underside at a 45 degree angle in order to beef them up a bit for my application. I couldn't fabricate a steel 45 degree support at the $7 price, so can just toss the main part of the bracket on 4 of these to strengthen my support. The support arms fit nicely in the internal gap on the ClosetMaids and just need an opening cut to slide them in from the underside (since ClosetMaid's bracket is U-shaped facing up, and these K&V brackets are U-shaped facing down) and then drill a hole to bolt them to the bracket, turning the ClosetMaid's into a similar 45 degree supported bracket and upping the weight it can support. My application may be interesting to some: removing the legs from some aging freestanding "system furniture" (office) to make the work surfaces floating and adjustable height in a home office (2 legs currently on each of 3 units really jams up the floor space). The 3 system units together reach out 7.5 feet from the corner one way, and 6 feet out from that corner in the other direction. Doing this will allow an office chair to roll anywhere without hitting a knee along the entire "L" shaped corner work surfaces, to say nothing of flexibility to put shelves above it at any height and at any increment of 18" long. Nothing less than 3" screws for the standards going to studs through drywall. At some point the manufacturer shortened them to 20 inches but kept the same model number. They should not be advertised as 22 inch brackets because they are not. That being said, they can still adequately support a 24 inch shelf, such as a half sheet of plywood and probably still have the same weight rating. If you buy them direct from the seller's web site you may get a much better price. Do some research before buying!
