I used Tito‘s vodka and wild turkey bourbon and both come out beautifully. The vodka based is my favorite for baking and I love to use the Bourbon based in my homemade Kahlúa and it adds a beautiful smooth flavor. I do 5 beans split and cut in 1/2 in 8oz’s of liquor, put it in a cool dry place and let set 2 months shaking occasionally. **Q: This might be a dumb question, but can you open these & there’s a pod or a bean inside?** A: Not a dumb question, what is pictured is the pod/bean. Inside are tiny seed that can be scraped out with a knife. With this particular grade of vanilla bean (B), I would recommend just chopping them up or just splitting them open and drop in the alcohol of your choice to make extract. If you want the seeds for a recipe, I would recommend grade A beans. **Q: When they expire?** A: Ann I do not know.
