Can I install and use this on my portable work bench?** A: It would depend on how sturdy your portable folding work bench is. The miter trimmer is a heavy tool & I use it on a regular wooden work bench that is quite sturdy and do not have to bolt or screw it down as its own weight holds it just fine. I get very good results from the trimmer and use it quite often almost exclusively for picture frames. **Q: does this trimmer come with blades?** A: There are two blades installed but you can buy replacement blades. **Q: The description says "totally adjustable for 45 degree and 90 degree cuts." are there presets, or am i stuck making sure i adjust it exactly?** A: It comes with stops accurately set for 45 & 90. But they can be tweaked. Once set, they stay set. I haven't touched mine in years. **Q: What is height of board that can go through or how many inches is gap between base and top cutting edge?** A: It's about 4" as the other answers say. But that doesn't mean you can actually cut something that thick. This thing is used mainly to slice incredibly thin shavings in order to sneak up on a precise measurement. Minus one star for being slightly awkward to adjust angle stops, but once adjusted it is very accurate and consistent. Making the first cut with a miter saw about 1/32" to 1/16" over size and then trimming with this tool worked well for making picture frames. Trimming more than 1/32" with some hardwoods requires a fair amount of force, which is normal.
