I had the same problem. You can buy sisal rope to replace the worn out rope. I used small thin nails to secure it at both ends. Works a treat. You can even wind new sisal over the old sisal. **Q: Do have to include the fabric basket section? Or can you leave it off and still assemble it ok?** A: Hi. You don't have to put the basket on. Its optional. Although my cats absolutely love it because it's suspended and must feel as if they are floating in mid air. **Q: A review said needs two people to assemble. Can one person do it?** A: I did it on my own quite easily so ignore what one clearly incompetent person said in a review and get building that cat tree. **Q: What is the quality of Sisal on these? Easy to assemble and doesnt take up loads of space. Nice and big and stable for our larger cat who is also a bit scared of heights!
