The only time they will stick is if the coins contain steel/iron/graphite. Some coins from the UK Royal Mint did at certain manufacture times contain steel. In 1992 the manufacture of 1p and 2p coins were changed from bronze to copper-plated steel so would "stick" to a magnet, any magnet.
