Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy have married. But now a new romance is in the air, along with high fashion, elegant manners, scandal, deception, and the wonderful hope of a true and lasting love.Shy Georgiana Darcy has been content to remain unmarried, living with her brother and his new bride. But Elizabeth and Darcy's fairy-tale love reminds Georgiana daily that she has found no true love of her own. And perhaps never will, for she is convinced the one man she secretly cares for will never love her in return. Georgiana's domineering aunt, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, has determined that Georgiana shall marry, and has a list of eligible bachelors in mind. But which of the suitors are sincere, and which are merely interested in Georgiana's fortune? Georgiana must learn to trust her heart and rely on her courage, for she also faces the return of the man who could ruin her reputation and spoil a happy ending, just when it finally lies within her grasp.** The book had been sent by the author for an honest review and by no means the review is biased/influenced**STAR RATING: 3.5/5DESCRIPTION IN ONE LINE: Captivating although not mind boggling.Title: I found the title to be to the point giving out the basic idea that the story is Georgiana's and it's all in a diary. As the rich women in 18th Century weren't suppose to do any chores so it felt perfect that Georgiana spent all her extra time writing an expressive journal.Title Rating: 4/5Cover: I personally felt that the cover was appropriate being it a personal diary and the lady being there but I couldn't call it intriguing. I know that a book shouldn't be judged by it's cover but it definitely adds to the mind's curiosity. Had I not been a P&P fan I might have not given a second glance to the book.Cover Rating: 3.5/5Characters: GEORGIANA: It felt a 1 minute character from the original book was brought to life with an interesting and pleasing personality. She is a women who is completely honest with herself in her diary sharing her innermost thoughts which usually people fail to do even in their journals. She is a women with distinction who looks up to her brother but at the same time has a mind and opinion of her own. She is an angel in disguise wanting to bring Anne out of her sickness oblivion and stick to propriety even when her heart wants to shout out loud to the person she loves. She carries the Darcy's blood as she is influential in her own way.EDWARD: He is a man with candor and sense of being just who is ready to go to the lengths of the entire world to keep Georgiana safe and happy. Although he is struggling to express his feelings but his loyalty is visible at every nook and cranny. The moment he came into the picture I loved his character although not as majestic as our Darcy, yet pleasing.ANNE: The girl has been believed into being sick being the only precious child but she is a lady who wants to experience everything for a lady her age. She is eager to learn and please and easily made happy in return. She is a timid girl who eventually realized her own expectations from life.Characters Rating:4/5Review: I was surprised when I saw negative reviews of this book and people were finding out technical errors in the book. See Jane Austen was a legend and comparing anyone with her is insult to both. Everyone has a unique style to write and she pointed out her own flaws which should be appreciable in itself. The style of writing is pretty good and easy to follow. There is coherence and the love story which emerged out of nowhere was convincing and intriguing at the same time. The characters were written as a person actually is, because every person is not perfect and have their own set of mistakes that they make. If Ms Bingley, Annie and Aunt de Borough falter, it was perfectly normal as love i a complex business. The story between Georgiana and Edward had the essence of the old century and made me fall in love with the characters totally.Review Rating: 3.5/5Appreciation: The illustrations really made my day. A special appreciation to the illustrator, Laura because she bought a life in the characters. I have always been imagining how they must have looked like and she provided the food to my curiosity. The diary style gave it a fresh outlook.Let Downs: There are errors a bit here and there but by no means they are disrupting the story at any point.Final Verdict: The story gave me everything: Romance, Curiosity and Elizabeth & Darcy. I appreciate the author highly for her work and efforts. It is not easy to write a sequel to a worldwide classic. The moment it comes out every critic is ready to point out mistakes but I feel we should judge it individually and not with the work of another author. The book had the Jane Austen essence and I feel it writing a 18th century novel is not a easy task.Would I be reading more from ANNA ELLIOTT: Definitely. I'm going to review the next two in the series pretty soon and shall wait out for new ones from her.Coming soon is a candid interview with ANNA ELLIOTT. So keep reading and feedback is most welcome :)To get your book reviewed you may contact me on:Email: inextrica.sukriti@gmail.com

Enjoyed Being Inside Georgiana's Thoughts and See Her Come Into Her Own

*by S***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 2, 2022*

I can't believe I waited so long to get to this one. I was utterly charmed reading Georgiana Darcy's thoughts as she came of age and navigated the path to love and womanhood. I've already enjoyed some of the author's work so I was intrigued to see how this epistolary style book would go and it was a delightful surprise.Georgiana Darcy's Diary is a sequel to Pride and Prejudice told through young Georgiana Darcy's eyes. This is three years after the events of her dreadful 15 year old misadventure with George Wickham and she is living at Pemberley with her brother and his charming wife, Elizabeth.Georgiana is shy and reticent before others, but inside her own head, she has decided opinions. One of those is that Aunt Catherine's latest batch of eligible men will remain eligible as far as Georgiana is concerned. She already knows the man she wants and will not settle for another no matter how handsome or charming (though some are far from that as she discovers). Her second guardian Colonel Edward Fitzwilliam has been her secret love since she can remember, but the man only sees her as a young girl and not the grown woman she has become.Edward's back from the war with France and not unaffected by the war. He seems to look and act oddly around her at times, but his behavior generally gets her riled up and annoyed enough to take baby steps out of her shell to have a voice and to be proactive. Helping her despairing cousin Anne to get out from under her mother's thumb and pursue her own happiness as well as face down her own worst past experience brings Georgiana along to the point when she must leave her shy self behind and boldly state and do to get her own happiness.I loved seeing Georgiana grow, learn from her mistakes and that of others, be observant and intelligent, but also work toward what she wanted. As the reader, I could see what Georgiana could not when it came to Edward Fitzwilliam and couldn't wait for Georgie to see it, too. The author did a good job showing how the war affected him and how he must adjust to peacetime and dealing with the nightmares and memories. It was also fun to see Darcy and Lizzy as a loving couple and how their marriage has progressed. The secondary romance for Anne de Bourgh was a good one, too.All in all, I was utterly delighted and can't wait to see what comes in the second part of Georgiana's story. Excellent characterizations and historic backdrops and plottings. Definite recommend.

    Absolutely charming.

Unlike a previous reviewer, Death at Pemberley left me cold, and I rarely come across an Austen-a-like which does any kind of justice to the originals. However, Anna Elliott has achieved that lofty goal.I suppose I should start with my (very few) caveats before I gush about how much I loved this! So: There are a few slips into American spellings/phraseology - nothing painfully bad, but a few spots where the author would have benefited from a British proofreader to weed out the odd sentence which doesn't fit. Overall though, despite Anna Elliott's disclaimer that she does not consider herself able to match Austen, she does a very creditable job of writing in a way that feels (to this Austen aficionado at least) like it could almost have flowed from Austen herself. The ending is predictable - which in and of itself is not a bad thing, but on just one or two occasions I did want to bash certain characters' heads together! There is a fine line between dramatic and romantic tension, and characters being idiots, and a couple of times Elliott _almost_ topples over it. One never doubts that the endgame will play out as one wishes, and that can be a little too sweet at times for some people. However, the good stuff far outweighs the minor niggles:There is such a lot to enjoy here. The pairing up of characters is great, with a few unexpected twists and turns. Not only does the author portray characters we know well in a way that is absolutely recognisable (for instance, when writing Darcy and Lizzy), but she also breathes new life into characters who don't play a huge role in the original. Georgiana is obviously the main one in this regard, but I enjoyed a new perspective on Anne de Bourgh, was made to sympathise more with Caroline Bingley, and absolutely adored Colonel Fitzwilliam. This, to my mind, is already grounds for praise, but the author does not stop there. She brings in a small but perfectly formed cast of new characters who fit in beautifully to the world and the story, and threads in information about the goings on in the world at large in a way that grounds the story in the history of the time, without ever (to me) feeling forced.Georgiana herself feels spot on - her worries and joys, seeing her gradually overcome the excesses of childhood shyness, her relationships with her family, and so on. It would not be so very difficult to believe that Elliott stumbled in to Pride and Prejudice and just happened to find Georgiana's diary! I very much enjoyed Georgiana's story, and moreover enjoyed spending time with her. On a side note, I also loved the sketches and pictures, which were rather a lovely addition. All in all, this is a charming, highly enjoyable read, and I downloaded and started volume two the first chance I got - which, incidentally, looks likely to make up for any overdose of sweetness in volume one, starting as it does on the edge of battle in the Napoleonic wars. All credit to Anna Elliott for managing to continue P&P in such a wonderful way. I will certainly be looking out for her work in future, and will be keeping a special eye out for Austen related books!
