**Q: Why doesn't this come with an insert with suggestions for use? I had to come back to this page for suggestions.**
A: It's easy to use. Based off picture the upper part is for your lower back. The flat part is for you tail bone. I have a mat myself.

**Q: Kind of like doing a half a sit up at a time?**
A: No, the intent of an ab-mat sit-up is to go all the way back and get full extension, the curve of the mat should support the natural curve of your back.

**Q: Can I bench with it**
A: We don’t see why not, it’s kind of narrow so it might be uncomfortable around the back arm area when bench pressing.

I have been using this daily for months and thoroughly recommend it. I wasn't sure if it would work as I was worried it would move on carpet but it doesn't. The sponge has really held its shape well and it does a good job of protecting my back when I do sit ups.
