## Overview

## Description

Metal polishing compounds that come in a wax, paraffin-oil or grease-based block/bar are often referred to generically as 'jeweler's rouge'. Rouge is French for red, and jeweler's rouge is a specific type of polishing compound that contains ferrous oxides (which give it the red color) and is used most typically to polish precious metals. We offer several different compounds (including red jeweler's rouge!) that contain various minerals and particles that color the block - each formulated for a specific cutting, polishing or buffing effect.

## Features

- Apply small amount by holding against spinning buffing wheel or rub on cloth; contains alpha-alumina
- Use on aluminum, brass, copper, iron, pewter, nickel, steel and stainless steel

    Great Stuff

*by B***B on Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2012*

I apply this to a sheet of newspaper which I set on one of my arkansas stones and strop and polish with it. When i first got it, I did about 50 laps, then now, once I start to feel a little drag, I do 3 laps on each side, alternating. I don't think I'll ever run out of this! This also works well for polishing the edge. Btw, my arkansas stone is only 1000 grit, but I went straight from that to this, and it works fine, can push cut paper about half an inch to three quarter of an inch from my finger.

    Great for a homemade strop

*by J***O on Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2018*

I used this to create a home made strop. To apply, warm it up at the end of a candle for just a few moments and then rub it into the leather. I use this along with Emory (black) buffing compound for my initial buffing. The green compound works great for the final edge. This one bar will last a very long time for this need.

    Worked great (with patience)

*by J***E on Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2017*

I got good results for this but I got even better results by wetsanding with 800 and then 2000 grit. You may get even better results with more passes or by following the 2000 with 3000 and then using the emery.Ps. I'm new to this so I wet the rouge with water and then ran my buffing wheel on it and it worked. (When you wet it, the rouge turns from gray to black)
