The fabric is the same durable type as most Dickies work pants are. These have the roomier relaxed fit that I prefer since I kneel frequently at work. Length was a little longer than the 32" inseam, but only by about one inch. Waist, for me, fit true to size. A few washes and these should break in quite nicely, but are still wearable and comfortable after the first wash. The reason I haven't loved them, and given a five star rating, is pretty insignificant. But the zipper for the cargo pockets on the side have very small pulls, which make them a little clumsy to use consistently. The crotch gusset is a major plus for those of us who do a lot of squatting. I very much like the zipper closer on the cargo pockets. With some of my cargo pants with velcro flaps the corners of the flaps flip up which is annoying when your trying to look presentable at work.
