So far, this book appears to be an excellent resource ("It's a guide to awakening the divine magic in you....") for those wanting to benevolently use the skill/art/science of witchcraft (as is necessary to be able to be a Wiccan). The book is NOT meant to be "blitz-read": for the program to work, one will have to work the program. As far as I've read, I venture that this book covers a lot of Dedicant ("year-and-a-day") and first-year Initiate topics. This seems like a good book for the "Called" -- but are you called? There is a brief discussion , and the second exercise ("Guided Meditation: Divine Presence", p.26) will help. (For more advice, seek out an Initiated 2nd-Degree Wiccan.) However, for those not sure if Wicca is for them, or who are skittish about Wicca's beliefs and morality, I still recommend Jennifer Hunter's "21st Century Wicca: A Young Witch's Guide to Living the Magical Life". For those with loved ones who are exploring Wicca, there's Carl McColman's "When Someone You Love is Wiccan: A Guide to Witchcraft and Paganism for Concerned Friends, Nervous Parents and Curious Co-workers". I should mention that Ms. Curott has a website ("Resources", p.261), from which it APPEARS that additional training can be obtained. It must be noted however, that the real strength in Wicca and witchcraft is in the covens (see p.42-43 for example), and they prefer to train their way -- so "getting too far ahead of the game" by reading and following a guide might have unintended consequences. Consult an HPS for more advice. Review: Love Phylis Curott's books! - Easy to read and filled with volumes of information and activities.
