Review: WORKS! A much needed upgrade and extended life. - Gave extended life to an aged undersized laptop. Upgrade from 8GB to 2GB noticeably improved response times, reduced page-swap and disk activity. Can’t blame install problems on the RAM (what size are those damned laptop screws anyway?!), those were all on APPLE. RAM install a breeze once the case was opened.
Review: It works fine and super easy to install - The machine is a mid 2009 MacBook Pro. Earlier I replaced 4Gb (2x2Gb) with 8Gb (2x4Gb) from another manufacture from desertcart. Failure. I returned it to desertcart for a refund and bought this 8Gb set. It works perfectly. The machine is now far more responsive. It's a great way to update an old machine so tha that it works more like a modern machine. The motivation for the memory increase: Apple no longer supports this old of a machine with software updates. This means one cannot update any new apps or update old one. A big problem! But with some research, one can install the latest operating system. But it's more of a memory hog than the older operating systems. At that point it became absolutely necessary to increase memory. With the ne operating system and the first increase of memory, it is like a brand new machine (well close anyway). It sure beats buying a new machine. Ease of installation: You need something like a jewelry set of screwdrivers to take off about 10 screws off the bottom metal base. The screws are very small so be sure to put them in a container so they don't roll off the table never to be seen again. Upon removing the bottom base cover, the memory is right in front of you. Just push the side holding restraints sideways and the memory card pops out. Simply replace the cards, and screw on the bottom plate. 5-10 minutes and the job is complete.
