    For anyone diagnosed with breast cancer, plus friends and family

This graphic novel was in my surgeon's waiting room.  But she was usually on time so I just had to buy it for myself. I was hooked with the cover. It stepped me through one woman's journey through breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. But it was snappy, not sappy. She had the sly sense of humor of a young woman and a very outspoken response to the stages of denial, "I do it myself," I feel terrible, I have no insurance to pay for this, the timing is most inconvenient, to I can lean on friends and loved ones to get through it. I was newly diagnosed with breast cancer and identified with many of her dramatic moments. I learned more from this book than I did from many of the booklets and web searches recommended by the doctors. My husband was eager to read the book also. It was just what the doctor casually set out for us in her waiting room. And, of course, the art work was perfect!

This book contains no useful information for cancer patients. Further, the author does nothing but whine about her situation through the entire book. Plus, from what I could tell, she did nothing to help her situation as far as nutrition goes. There are so many other books written to help cancer patients deal with their diagnosis and also that give valuable information on the value of nutrition and cancer treatments.

LOVE this, and the writer's generosity in sharing her story through her magnificent cartoon narrative. One of the top three most helpful resources for this (s)mother of a Cancer Vixen: include Andrea Hutton's "Bald is Better with Earrings: A Survivor's Guide to Getting Through Breast Cancer," and Brooke Purdy's movie, "Quality Problems," billed as "a comedy ... about cancer."Marisa Acocella Marchetto, herself a superior cartoonist for The New Yorker Magazine, takes us right along on her scary ride, revealing all kinds of fears, love, and dedicated care.Thank you so much for this book. I learned a lot.
