I have a couple video cameras that that have the mini firewire out ports that I used to connect to firewire 400 ports on older computers. So when I decided that I wanted to go back to the original tapes I needed a cord that could connect the DV firewire to the newer 800 ports. This cord filled the bill as expected. I suspected it was the cable and luckily was able to purchase another one from Amazon which worked perfectly.
