Review: A long story about how this face mask is totally worth it. - So, I never ever write desertcart reviews BUT I read A TON of reviews on this BEFORE getting it and was a little discouraged. Many people said it made their skin worse and I got very frightened because I have been actively trying to heal some dark scars on my face and close up some pores. Essentially I want skin that looks healthy enough to not wear makeup. Anyways, as I said, I read a bunch of really good reviews and a bunch of really unhappy reviews and I was hesitant. I have tried white clay masks from Kiehls and that didn’t do much for my skin and I have tried charcoal peel off masks and that didn’t do much either. I have pores that are visible in between my eye brows, on my nose, and chin and I live in NYC so I am ALWAYS aware of the fact that my face gets dirty really fast with the nasty nasty pollution in the air. So, after a lot of deliberation I figured what the heck, I’ll buy it (because it’s a good price) do it PROPERLY and see what happens. The first night I did it, I focused mainly on my trouble spots to see if it would reduce the pores and I did not leave it on for longer than ten minutes (honestly it was probably like under ten), I mixed in a glass bowl with a plastic spoon and Braggs ACV ( absolutely no water). I washed it very gently afterwards (saw only a slight redness) and immediately used some vitamin e oil and very natural lotion to prevent dryness. ( I also MADE sure I had CLEAN hands when I lotioned up my face.) The next morning the spots on my skin were slightly lighter and my pores were not as visible. I have to admit I often stare at my face in the mirror with the horrible bright light on the maginified side and when I did that my pores looked smaller!! This wasn’t a HUGE difference but there was a change, and it made me happy. I’ve done it a couple more times (yes I know it’s supposed to be once a week), but I really like it. My skin between my eye brows was a little dry today, but a little lotion fixed that up. There has been no extended amounts of redness or breakouts and overall, I like the results. I definitely recommend this if you are willing, able and patient to test it and go slow. I did not use it on my entire face until the third time because I wanted to see how my problem areas reacted first. Because I didn’t have any problem with it, I moved on to a full face mask. This isn’t a mask that you can just peel on and off, and yes you do have to make sure that chunks of clay don’t go down your drain because it will harden and clog the drain. It takes a little tender, love and care, but it is totally worth it. Do not be afraid to try it, for 8 dollars it’s really well priced and has done good things for my skin!! **Q: So, is it only a facemask? WHat else do people use it for?**
A: I am not a medical doctor or researcher  (obligatory disclaimer) but am using this mask in the underarm area as a detox during chemo - every day for 3-4 days following chemo - to assist with detox in the lymph area.

**Q: how to use?**
A: I just follow the directions on the package. It’s pretty clear. I would say when washing it off though that I use a big plastic bowl of hot water instead of rinsing it down the drain. I don’t know for sure but I have seen some reviewers say it clogged their drains due to the clay.

**Q: Why does clay/dirt have an expiration date?  i love this but don't use it often so i have reached that date. can i still use it?**
A: It’s most likely the packaging that has the expiration date. Bottled water has an expiration date but it’s really telling you that that’s when the bottle will start to break down. So try it on a small patch of skin first and then go from there

**Q: what are the measurements to create the face mask?**
A: The measurements will depend on the size of the area you want to cover and the desired thickness of the mask.  For just normal facial coverage at 1/8 to 1/4 inch of thickness, mix 3 tablespoons to 2.5 to 3 tablespoons of your choice of liquid (most recipes call for apple cider vinegar).
