I used to use a tennis ball until I found these. I tried these and some other brand, but the different densities on these are excellent. If you get this set and two peanut shaped balls from the same company (I recommend blue for the peanuts) you'll be able to work on all parts of your body. My bare minimum travel pack is the green ball and a blue peanut (double roller or whatever rad calls them). **Q: How firm is the blue one? Like a lacrosse ball? Or like a racquetball? Or something else?** A: All are the same firmness: not as firm as a lacrosse ball, but harder than a tennis ball. I bought them to use for myofascial release yoga and massage for my recurring plantar fasciitis, and it has really helped! I use them to massage the bottom of my feet, but also the calf muscles. The instructions show them being used on the thighs, back, and even the face and jaw, so lots of uses. It's great that there are 3 sizes for varying levels of pressure and pinpointing or generalizing pressure. The rubber is firm, but comfortable on the skin.
