Old School Quality
We purchased 2 to replace pans that we'd had for years. When they arrived one of the pans had scratches on the none stick surface. Returning it and receiving a replacement was hassle free with Amazon. However we felt that a simple inspection of the product initially prior to shipping would have discovered the defect and avoided the inconvenience of having to return and replace. hence the 4 rating for an overall and 2 for the shipper.

Made in the USA
I have some older Magnalite cook wear Made in the USA but understand that the Magnalite brand has moved overseas, I was delighted to find this skillet was still made here. Thanks Amazon for giving me the chance to order another American made product,

Very Impressed!
My family bought a set up the Magnalite Professional cookware in the early 80's and it has now come into my possession. The craftsmanship and quality of the pieces are exceptional- so much so that years after discontinued the line, there is an active after market for it on ebay. One thing that the Professional frying pans don't do well is eggs... hence my recent purchase. I first looked at the high end players: Calaphon, All-Clad; mid-range Cuisinart and T-Fal followed. Prices ranged from the over $100 to the mid $20's. One thing thing that was consistent, was the weight of the pan (amount of material used in the manufacturing process) was directly proportional to the cost. The low end pans felt like camping gear and the high end pans were not even as hefty as their stainless steel counterparts. A trip to Macy's allowed me to hold each one and compare. On a fluke, and because I have this nice set of Magnalites, I thought I would do an Amazon search to see if there were any Magnalite offerings. There were no reviews- but I decided that I would take one for the team and ordered mine on the spot.It arrived two days later and I could not be happier. It is by far the most substantial (heaviest) non-stick 11" frying pan that I have seen since I began looking. The bottom of the pan is nicely grained and this has the effect of giving it "grip" on the metal burners. The forging in places could be described as having character as you can see slight variation around where the handle attaches. It gives the pan the look of being hand-crafted, which I really appreciate. While we are talking about high quality crafting, let's not forget that this was made in the USA- which is also appealing to me.So what's the first thing that I did? I cooked an omelet. The pan performed exceptionally well- cooking the egg evenly and literally wiped clean with a napkin when done. The handle stayed did not pick up the heat from the pan and did not require a glove to touch.I highly recommend this pan- to anyone that is looking for a high quality hefty pan with non stick coating.

This is a beautiful pan, and one reason I like it is that its weight keeps it centered on my cooktop's burner better than the skillet I've previously had. A lighter pan is more apt to tip, when bumped, which could lead to a mishap. This skillet definitely has the look and feel of quality. I'm sure it will last a very long time.It replaces a ten inch pan, and when shopping for a new pan, so many of the choices were 12" skillets, which really are way too large for a couple of seniors. I wanted something a little larger than what I had. This size is very nice. When I read that it is made in the USA, that clinched it.....I want to buy more American products, plus it has the quality I want!
