It was important to me for the leather to be full-grain because I wanted it to hold up to the elements, and last a long time.Quick note: Full-grain leather is the full hide. If you sand the outermost part off, you have thinner, Top-Grain leather. If you sand that off, you have Genuine Leather. (You need to emboss it with an artificial texture to make it look like leather.) I mention that because this is definitely Full-Grain leather. And it’s gorgeous.This leather arrived two days after I purchased it, and it’s lovely! I ran out and picked up a sewing awl. I used a drafting compass to mark and punch holes for sewing. I cut the leather with an Exacto knife, and made this pouch in an evening. It wasn’t as hard as I thought, and I’m excited to take it out when I go camping in a few weeks.This is beautiful, thick, full-grain leather.
