"He's right. As cute as you are, Farm Girl, someone needs to tell you the rules."

*by G***P on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 17, 2017*

Idaho author Rachel Van Dyken has published some sixty novels and is the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today Bestselling author of regency and contemporary romances.Rachel writes in series and this series – THE EAGLE ELITE – is a mafia centered one – well, mafia and romance! She opens the campus origins with a seductive first chapter – ‘I watched as the parade of cars made their way through the black iron gates, as if somehow that barrier would protect them if the country went to war. Funny, they had no clue that the war — Lucifer himself — was already parading around inside, safe from the police, the feds, anyone who would be a threat. Safe from everyone but me. My eyes flickered to Phoenix on my right. He grinned as a new girl walked up to him and gave him a flirty wave. I elbowed him hard in the ribs. His grin turned sour as he glared at the girl and flipped her off. Remember your place. I'd said it once, twice, a million times to the guys, and they were still struggling with the idea that they weren't here to go to school, they weren't here to make friends. We weren't at peace. We were in a freaking war zone. And Phoenix's family was our only key to redemption. "That seems to be the last of them." Chase's cool gaze surveyed the main road that led into campus. It was easier on security to have one road in and one road out. Too bad life wasn't that convenient. If someone didn't belong, it would take us minutes — scratch that — seconds to eliminate them, their family, all the while making it look like a very unfortunate accident. "Wait." Tex squinted toward the iron gates. "I think there's one more car." "The hell there is," I muttered. "I counted the cars. I've looked at the lists. We aren't missing anyone." Chase yanked the list out of my hand and started reading through the names of all the freshman enrollees. His grin made me about to lose it as he lifted his head and handed back the paper. "I hear Wyoming's beautiful this time of year." "What?" I jerked the list away and started greedily reading through the names. One stood out. Tracey Rooks, Female, 18, Casper, Wyoming. As for the plot, Rachel offers the following brief but accurate outline – ‘ There’s two sides to every story…And ours? Isn’t pretty… Then again, what’s pretty about the mafia? Trace Rooks, that’s what. But she only wants one of us, and I’ll kill him before I let him have her. The only problem ? We’re cousins. And she may just be our long lost enemy. Whoever said college was hard, clearly didn’t attend Eagle Elite University. Welcome to hell also known as the Mafia where blood is thicker than life, and to keep yours? Well, keep your friends close, and your enemies? Even closer…’This is a fine setup with a fine payoff for an end. Rachel deserves her kudos. Grady Harp, August 17

AHHHH!! I fell in love all over again!

*by J***K on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 18, 2014*

Oh my gosh!!!! Oh Rachel Van Dyken has done it again and this time I don't think I could love her more.As we all know, Enforce is the male POV of Elite, which was in Trace's POV. I absolutely fell in love with Elite but after reading Enforce it changed my outlook entirely. Reading about what the men were going through, their opinion of each other, but also of Trace as they got to know her, and the day to day struggles each of the men went through made me fall in love with everyone all over again.Enforce answers so many questions that I had after reading Elite, especially when it came to wondering why the men acted a certain way in specific situations. I admired Nixon and his protectiveness of Trace and giggled at Chase's comments. Even after reading Elite and knowing exactly what was going to happen, I still found myself on the edge of my seat, holding my breath, wiping tears (lots of tears), and smiling through the entire book. I can't honestly say how many times I caught myself laughing at something one of the boys said, smiling at the love being shown, even if it was in such a different way than is typical romance, and gasping at the danger in the situations. Enforce took me on an emotional roller coaster that took me a while to come down from.My heart clenched at the deep seated love we get to see in this somewhat modern Romeo and Juliet. It felt so different when reading from the male POV because there was so much history of the families we missed in reading Elite. My heart has always belonged to Nixon, even through the rest of the series, I have still felt that pull that brings me back to him. He stole my heart with his dominance, fierceness and protectiveness and I fell harder and have a whole new appreciation for him after reading Enforce."I needed to make the cut, but that's the thing about Trace. Cutting her out of my life? To protect her? Would be like stabbing myself in the heart. It wouldn't be a mortal wound. It would destroy all that was still good within me, bleed me dry; it would end my existence. But for her? I'd do it a thousand times, a million times. I'd die every day... over and over again, repeating the process until she was safe." ~Nixon << I mean, come on! Total swoon-worthy right there! He'd die for her, bleed for her, and happily do it as long as she was safe and protected."But she'd always mattered, my little Bella, the one who'd held my hand and caught my tears. Damn, but she'd been my sunshine in a life full of rain." ~NixonChase, dear Chase, may have just grabbed hold and yanked a piece of my heart that had been saved for Nixon and claimed it as his own. His desire to be there for Trace, not just as her protector but as so much more broke me."...I found myself outside her dorm room, just staring up at her window like some misplaced Romeo. She was staring out the window. I wondered what consumed her thoughts. Nixon? Her grandfather? Life at Elite? I wondered if I ever crossed her mind - or if I ever would." ~Chase"No more moments would pass - I wouldn't let them. If he wanted her, he was going to have to prove he loved her more than life itself - because I already knew I did." ~Chase <<Queue more tears! The love these boys feel, not only for Trace but for each other, is in no way calm and meek. It's fierce, primitive and incredibly sexy. But the tenderness they (can) show Trace and the peaceful feelings that their love gives them is damn near paralyzing and overwhelming.Whenever authors decide to "go back and write in a different POV," it is always a risk. Do they write the same story just different words? Is that enough? Well, Rachel managed to give us a story that was unexpected, electrifying and powerful. Discovering the men's reasoning and back ground behind their actions broke my heart and made me adore them all the more. Thank you, Rachel, for giving us more of the Eagle Elite and allowing me to give you an honest review for reading early! Once again, you've perfected it.

    It’s okay

I honestly didn’t intend to read this book. I’m not one of those readers who dislikes a book to then go on to read and slam the next one and so on and so forth.I didn’t like the previous book (Elite) so I was done. Or so I thought but I couldn’t settle on anything else. I started and quit several books this weekend and so I returned to this. This is (in my opinion) a better book than Elite. It answered some of my questions and gave a more rounded view of events.I’m not a fan of love triangles in fact I’d you as far as saying I avoid them if possible. So things were stacked against this from the beginning but I wanted to give it a fair shot. While I liked this book more it still felt like kids playing at being grown-ups.“....Seriously. Imagine taking every single rich kid with a daddy-god complex and placing them —no, scratch that —locking them in a fifty mile radius. Oh, and giving them as much money as they want without a curfew. Right, it was like Sodom and Gomorrah up in here...’I’m not surprised Tracey cries so much even her grandpa used her.“...I only meant to appease my dying wife, while at the same time allowing Trace to be used as bait, only if necessary...”
