Review: Great scope!! - Impressive piece of equipment. Smooth operation. Nice wide field eyepieces with high eye point for those wearing glasses. The 0.5 aux lense is perfect to give you wider field of view and higher working distance for SMT work. And the LED ring light is incredibly bright. I have spent over a thousand dollars in the past just for a fiber optic ring light and this LED seems superior since the bulbs should last much longer than the bulbs used in the old FO illuminations. Ring lights are nice because you always get great illumination with no fuss or adjustments. You can go right to soldering.
Review: No instructions - Have not had it long enough to know how well it will do, but it came with no instructions on how to assemble it and it was somewhat difficult to figure out. Seems substantial and well made.

**Q: What is the total maximum magnification possible?**
A: You can also purchase separately a 2x Barlow lens which will double the zoom range to 9x-90x.

**Q: How tall or thick an object can you put on the base and still reach focus?**
A: With the 0.5x objective (which I believe is standard), the focal distance is about 6”. The microscope can slide up the post plus the focal mechanism provides an additional 6”. If you routinely need more, you can flip the scope 180 degrees and place the base on something to raise it (and weight the base down so it doesn’t tip over). I use my scope this way all the time and have a couple inexpensive 8 lb dumbbells weighing down the base. This turns the scope into somewhat of a boom stand scope.

A: The barlow lens will need a lot of working distance to focus. Please try to raise the microscope head and focusing rack and it should focus.

Impressive piece of equipment. Smooth operation. Nice wide field eyepieces with high eye point for those wearing glasses. In general, the microscope is a very good instrument for the money. The microscope came in a reasonable time frame. For $300, it is probably the best one you can get for the money However, it is not at the same performance level as a Zeiss or Leitz stereomicroscope that might cost $500-$600. It is capable of doing most tasks for college level biology. It you are on a budget like I am, then this is microscope to buy.
