There are so many variables involved in how much water plants need. The size of the plant, the type of plant, the atmospheric conditions (greenhouse?) for example. I used mine to keep greenhouse plants watered while I was on holiday. I had two strands (you could have more) coming down through the holes in the bottom of the plantpot. The pots rested on a couple of lengths of wood over a gravel tray and I filled the gravel tray with water. The wick led down into the gravel tray and into the water. It worked very well. You could use a lager container but be aware that capillary action which draws the water up is limited in height. (Sorry I don't know what the limit might be.) **Q: How long it takes to star working? Because I've put the cord into the water 30 minutes ago, and the other end of the cord is still dry.** A: Pretty quick but I had the water container above plant level. Try to kick start it by immersing whole tape first. I had 8 plants on them whilst away for over 2 weeks and all fine **Q: is the length of cord in the water important?** A: I don’t believe so - what’s most important is that the end of the wick that is in the water is higher than the end of the wick what you are watering. **Q: What packaging does the 36m come in? Is it a barrel type roll? Will it untangle easily?** A: It comes as it is shown in tge pic. It can be untangled easily. Helped me a lot when i went for a week holiday. Also, you can take an empty toilet roll or kitchen roll to keep the rest safely untangled. I used two small one cut and left it in clean and empty milk bottle 2L for a 7 days and it worked fine. Weather was very warm, but a good water before we went and the addition of the wick cords; which you can cut to any length needed; to our pots/troughs from a trug, placed above the pots/plants level and secured with a stone/small piece of garden wire (used as a bracket in the pots) was all that was required.
