One reason is that the 10 X 12 box is too small for most of my art needs. **Q: Can it be used to view old negatives?** A: A light box wouldn't project a positive image. Instead, I highly recommend the Wolverine Convertor for negatives, slides, and film. You can see a positive image in color, download a digitized version to a memory stick or computer, and further edit or photoshop it. If you don't have a computer, there are some limited editing controls (rotate, color), though they are cumbersome. Just take the memory stick to the photo store for printing.There are newer versions since I purchased mine (which is yellow).
